Canada Elementary Education has public education provided, funded and overseen by federal, provincial, and local governments. Education is within provincial jurisdiction and the prospectus is overseen by the province. Education in Canada is usually divided into primary education, followed by secondary education and post-secondary. Within the regions under the ministry of education, there are district school boards administering the educational programs.
The Canadian education system covers elementary, secondary and post-secondary education. Education in Canada is governed by each regional and territorial government, so there are slight differences between the education systems in each province and territory.
Elementary: - Children enter kindergarten at age 5. Elementary school includes grades 1 through 6 in regions that then have 2 years of middle school or junior high school, and in areas without these, elementary school goes up to grade 8. In Quebec, elementary school is grades 1-6, and students then go directly into high school.
Elementary Education Programs in Canada
An elementary education degree can be used in a variety of ways, but the most common way is to use it toward a license to teach on the elementary grade level. Those who pursue such a degree can guess to have their accountability measured through state mandated testing programs within the classroom. An elementary education degree, even on the associate level needs some sort of classroom observation standards. As the degree becomes more refined, students in this field will find that they require performing tasks in an elementary classroom as well as passing basic skills exams such as the Praxis I and Praxis II. Part of the rich experience of Elementary Education Program includes development of lesson plans, a curriculum and different tasks using technology.
